Meaningful Mornings

The month prior to taking over ownership of the practice, I listened to the audiobook "The Miracle Morning" by Hal Elrod. I knew going into practice ownership I wanted to be on my A game in all facets of life. This book inspired me to start my mornings earlier. By waking up earlier, I have an hour of kid-free time to exercise, read, write, manifest and prepare for the day. By starting off your morning on the right foot, you are sure to have a great day. My schedule looks a little something like this:

9pm : Bedtime

5am: Alarm

5:02am: Alarm (waking up is hard to do)

5:05am: Mix pre workout shake

5:15am: Strap on my heart rate monitor and choose either a spin class, boot camp or run (I'm one of those Peloton people)

5:35am: Cool down

5:40am: Journal/Read (currently completing Write the Word journal on Gratitude)

5:50am: Affirmations/Meditation

6:00am: Get ready for the day/make smoothie (Orgain vegan vanilla, collagen, frozen berries, spinach, banana, and almond milk with a little granola on top)/make coffee/make bottles.

You might be asking yourself, how does she do all of this?! Let me tell you, it's not easy. My son still wakes up at least once a night. Sometimes my daughter still wakes up at night. We don't always get to bed at 9pm. It will take several weeks, but eventually the endorphins kick in and solidify this rhythm. Until your body adjusts, you will have to go on your own commitment. I'm thankful, fueled and ready to tackle each day. My team can vouch that I'm positive no matter what the day holds, I am ready to take the best care of my patients, well rested, well fueled and grounded in gratitude.

While this isn't your typical "dental" blog post I think it's important to know that as a healthcare provider, I take health serious. Our teeth are attached to everything else and I believe in the power of a positive mindset. From a personal perspective if you have two people who are going to be doing a procedure on you- would you rather have someone who rolled out of bed at 6:15 am rush into the office to get started at 7am or have someone who has been up since 5 am, is awake, fueled and ready? I would love to connect and share if you have questions, as I am very passionate about mornings. They have made all of the difference the last several months for me, and I think they would be a great rhythm for anyone looking to improve their days!
